Jaiva MX / NH Collection Barcelona Constanza
Mexican Pacific coast cuisine and mezcal culture, in the heart of Les Corts.

In the heart of the Les Corts financial district, within the NH Collection Barcelona Constanza hotel building — designed by architect Rafael Moneo — Jaiba MX offers a contemporary reinterpretation of Mexican cuisine by chef Roberto Ruiz, who also heads Barracuda MX in Madrid. The concept explores the cuisine of Mexico's Pacific coast with nods to Catalan produce and sets aside a dedicated space for mezcal culture and Mexican spirits.

The interior design projectby Vibbes Design, reimagines three areas of the restaurant — the entrance vestibule, the dining room and the covered terrace — with a design language combining cane, natural wood, rope lattices and artisanal ceramics, creating a warm, botanical atmosphere.

In the vestibule, we developed and manufactured two entrance screens in cane and wood, along with a suspended rope lattice that filters the passage into the dining room.

The hostess counter is finished in metal mosaic, with a skirting and lower panel in aged brass-finish metal; the cabinet doors share the same finish, with a perimeter flat bar and metal pull. Next to it, the wine cellar unit combines fire-retardant walnut-effect panelling, a clear glass door and a vinyl-paper back panel, with an integrated side table and cutlery drawer and an aged brass pull.

In the dining room, our work focused on the bar: clad in artisanal salmon-toned solid clay brick, with wood verticals, a front metal flat bar and updated LED lighting, and a rear wood shelving unit with integrated lighting for the bottle display.

The bar's side wall is finished in a continuous microcement-type material, with decorative rosettes forming a geometric pattern across the curved surface.

The ensemble is completed by the bench structure — with a dyed beechwood frame, rattan mesh and an integrated LED strip beneath the seat, upholstered in technical outdoor and indoor fabrics depending on exposure —, custom-made tables with tops in various finishes (Gravity Wave-effect marble, cement or wood, on a lacquered steel base), a mezcal trolley and guéridon-format furniture placed throughout the room.

On the covered terrace, we manufactured the ceviche preparation counter and the wooden louvre shutters dressing the windows, as well as the sofa structure in the entrance vestibule, with a dyed beechwood frame and upholstery.
