The Madrid Edition
A new benchmark in the hotel world

Driven by Ian Schrager, founder of the legendary New York nightclub Studio 54, and Edition, Marriott's most exclusive hotel brand, The Edition Madrid is located in a historic 16th-century building on Plaza de las Descalzas, in the former pawnshop's headquarters, right in the heart of Madrid. The building features clean, modern lines and a striking 18th-century Baroque portico designed by Pedro de Ribera and salvaged from a nearby building. The hotel emerged thanks to a complete transformation of the building, conceived by the architecture firm Ruiz-Larrea & Asociados y OAB - Office of Architecture in Barcelona.

British architect John Pawson, renowned for his minimalist work, and Frenchman François Champsaur, acclaimed for his playful style, collaborated for the first time to create this hotel with its meticulously designed interior.

The hotel features 200 rooms, including 23 suites, decorated in an off-white colour scheme with elegant furnishings that combine dark oak panelling with white and cream tones, custom-made furniture, and textures such as linen, limestone, and wood.

The Madrid Edition boasts five distinct spaces:

  • the lobby, the heart of the hotel.
  • the Mexican restaurant Jerónimo, by chef Enrique Olvera.
  • the Punch Room.
  • the speakeasy-style bar, reminiscent of private clubs.
  • the spectacular rooftop terrace, home to the Oroya restaurant.
  • a nightclub with live entertainment.

Martínez Otero collaborated on the carpentry and furnishings for the hallways and rooms: panelling, entrance doors, bathrooms, access points to all rooms, and built-in furniture, including wardrobes, minibar cabinets, and vanities.

We also provided the equipment and furnishings for the common areas: bars, back bars, and bottle racks in the Punch Room, Lobby, indoor and outdoor Sky Bar, Superclub, and Fine Dining. the furniture of the checkout points and the reception counters, including the spa.
